總會大會 aka GENERAL CONFERENCE

Hello!! This weekend we got to watch General Conference! We are a week later since they have to translate it into Chinese subtitles. Conference is amazing and is an amazing opportunity to get revelation and get answers to questions! I really liked that the Saturday morning session was all about not having fear and always relying on Christ in our afflictions. I really liked the line where it talks about how we will never be alone in our afflictions if WE CHOOSE to walk with Him (Christ) and even in our moments of deepest grief, when life seems unfair, because of Christ everything shall be made right. I love everything is centered on CHOOSING to walk with Christ and CHOOSING to have Him help us. One of the coolest parts was from Elder Clayton, "I invite all members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to, each day, “come unto Christ, and be perfected in Him, and deny yourselves of all ungodliness, … [that] through the shedding of the blood of Christ, … ye [may]become holy, without spot. I invite those who are not yet members of this Church to come and read the Book of Mormon and listen to the missionaries. Come and have faith and repent of your sins. Come and be baptized and receive the Holy Ghost. Come and live a happy, Christ-filled life. As you come to Him and keep His commandments, I promise that you can find peace and purpose in this often tumultuous mortal experience and “eternal life in the world to come.”

“For those who have experienced these truths and for whatever reason have wandered away, I invite you to come back. Come back today. Our Father and the Savior love you. “How amazing is this principle of always coming unto Christ?  When we replace our fears with faith and hope in Christ, even in our darkest times we are able to be surrounded by His love.

Miracles:

We had the opportunity to meet with this cute mother that Sister Austad and I had contacted on the street a couple weeks earlier. I had initially called her a couple weeks ago, but she hadn't had any time to really meet with us since she was traveling. I called her again and I asked if we could meet with her in the coming week and she was really willing to, then she was like "actually if you want we can meet earlier like on Saturday." Of course I was like...."YES WE WILL MEET YOU EARLIER, WHAT TIME WORKS BEST?" Thinking that because she was a mom of two really small children that she would most likely want to meet in the afternoon, but then she was like "If we do evening I can bring my husband and our children." So we ended up meeting with them in the evening and her whole family was able to come! It turns out she was super interested in the first lesson about Joseph Smith because in Hong Kong she had been looking at different churches and had forgotten about it since coming to Taiwan. It truly was a blessing and we are set up to meet with them all again after English class!

One of our investigators that had seen a polygamy film and was supposed to get baptized a couple weeks ago but not had actually picked up her phone and came to General Conference with her daughter! She set up with us this coming week, and a ward member who is her friend told us that it was a trial of her faith and she thinks that the experience Liu Jiemei had strengthened her testimony!

Nonspiritual moments:
So we went out yesterday to go visit some less actives and we met this lady, 陳小姐 (Ms. Chen), and she was talking to us and all of a sudden she looked at me and is like....do you speak Japanese? And I'm like no....and then she asks if I'm Japanese and I'm like....no.....my parents are from Hong Kong and she's like...yeah you should still learn Japanese. We then invited her to our English class and she was like, "okay I will go to learn English, and you should find a way to learn Japanese." Then the doorman was like yeah...you don't look like your parents are from Hong Kong, you look more Japanese. ONE DAY PEOPLE WILL BE ABLE TO FIGURE OUT WHO I REALLY AM.

These are all pictures from Tamsui, it was SO pretty.

Next week Monday is temple day so we won't have Pday until Wednesday. We are going shopping for summer clothes later today at Ximen. The weather is getting hot and humid here.
