Happy Thanksgiving!!! We hit our month mark on Saturday!! We have a month left here :D How was your guys' Thanksgiving? Ours was really good! We got to hear from Elder Andersen so it was really nice! He brought his grandchildren and they all said Happy Thanksgiving and they made us all cards!
I really liked that he talked about how in 1 Corinthians 12 it says that no part of the body is more important than the other. For ex. The foot is no greater than the head etc. We are all a part of God's work, we just have to do our best and God will do the rest. He also talked about how the testimony of Christ, the Book of Mormon, and the Restoration will be transmitted to all good people despite the language or cultural difference. God is "preserving you from day to day, by lending you breath, that ye may live and move and do according to your own will." The goodness of our Heavenly Father and His Son is incalculable , He will never stop blessing you, and He will consecrate your afflictions for your GAIN.
We had
the opportunity to do some amazing service here! Service is something close to
my heart, especially when it involves giving to people that have less than we
do! We had the opportunity to make 359,000 meals!!! How amazing is that???? The
amount you can do when you get a bunch of people to work together for a great
cause!
We
also taught one of our investigators about the apostasy and the restoration, I
recited the first vision and when people are right -- you can totally feel the
Spirit so strongly when you talk about Joseph Smith! She said that basically
she felt like she needed to believe it!
Nonspiritual
stuff:
So we
tried out an activity where we were knocking on doors and contacting people at
a bus stop (not real people, we are still in the MTC so all we get to
practice on is each other and our teachers). Anyways, we were talking to our
teacher during the knocking on doors activity and he was pretending to be this
investigator who thought he was a good person who didn't need any
"saving". So I tried to muster up some Chinese in the moment (cause
Gao Dixiong (Gao Brother) is a legend and I was nervous) and I tried to say every person
needs to be saved. BUT ME BEING WHO I AM, I MIXED UP THE TONE AND I SAID EVERY
PERSON NEEDS WINE. We figured out what happened later, but he didn't stop
laughing and he told literally everyone.
Also,
we were going to teach a lesson on the Plan of Salvation, so I was practicing
my parts to talk about Adam and Eve. Luckily this was when I was just
practicing by myself and Sister Kim, BUT ME BEING WHO I AM (plus being sleepy)
KEPT MIXING UP ADAM AND EVE WITH SATAN AND THE AFTERNOON. Clearly
you can tell how well my week went.
The
church is launching their Christmas event! It's called "Light the
World" and I challenge you all to do it! It's basically doing different
types of service until Christmas "In 25 ways. Over 25 days." They
have really nice videos and stuff that go along with each day and there are
suggestions on what you could do! Over 374,000 people are joining in, so why
not try it out??? Here's the site" https://www.mormon.org/?cid=HP_FR_25-11-2016_dMIS_fmorg_xLIDyL1-A_
